This course is an introductory elective in the Family and Consumer Science department. Course content focuses on concepts and methods of baking and cooking used to prepare classic foundation recipes from a variety of food groups. Students will analyze recipes and ingredients to understand how to fulfill their nutritional needs as an independent young adult. While exploring new ingredients and flavor combinations students are encouraged to creatively adjust recipes to their personal tastes and preferences. Students are strongly encouraged to follow this course up with Gourmet Foods to complete the year.
