The Role of the School Psychologist
School psychologists work with teachers, parents, and other staff to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems. School psychologists help parents and teachers understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior. School psychologists evaluate eligibility for special services and assist in making appropriate recommendations to help foster a child's educational success.
School psychologists provide psychological in school counseling to help resolve problems that interfere with school performance (on a very limited basis). If a child needs on-going counseling, outside therapy is generally recommended. School psychologists provide training in social skills and friendship skills through group activities.
